Las actividades en el área de las disciplinas geofísicas en el país se concentran principalmente en las universidades y en el Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería (Sernageomin).

Centros de formación en Geofísica se encuentran en las Universidades de Chile y de Concepción. Sin embargo, las Universidades Católica del Norte, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Santiago y Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, entre otras, emplean métodos y tecnologías geofísicas en sus investigaciones. También lo hace el Centro de Estudios Científicos de Santiago, con sede en la ciudad de Valdivia.
